About Summer In Blue

Updated on

Summer In Blue is an independent guide to automatic pool cleaners. We help pool owners pick a cleaner that suits their pool, their pump and the mess they clean up every week.

Our readers are mostly homeowners who are tired of pushing a vacuum pole around. You don't need to know pool trade terms to use our guides.

What we cover

We cover the three kinds of automatic pool cleaner: robots with their own motor, suction-side cleaners that run on your pool pump, and pressure-side cleaners that run off a return line.

That includes brands like Dolphin, Polaris, Zodiac, Hayward, WYBOT, Beatbot and Aiper. We also explain the parts that go with them, like booster pumps and leaf canisters.

How we work

We read product details, specs and maker information for each cleaner. Then we look at what owners report after a season or two of use.

We turn that into plain comparisons and picks sorted by pool type, budget and debris. The full method is on our How we research page.

What we are not

We don't make or sell pool cleaners, and no brand pays us to rank its products. We aren't affiliated with any pool equipment maker or pool store.

We don't claim to have tested every cleaner ourselves. Our picks come from specs, features and buyer feedback, and we say why we chose each one.

We don't give electrical or plumbing instructions. For wiring a booster pump or changing your plumbing, follow the maker's manual or call a licensed pro.

How the site is paid for

Some links go to stores like Amazon. If you buy through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

That never changes which cleaners we pick. Our affiliate disclosure explains it.
